Christmas in July:

 

On July 10, 2009  we hosted  out 8th Annual Chirstmas in July at Sacrementi’s Banquet in Steger. Where we honored our volunteers, who have served the youth  of our programs and their communities on and beyond the call of duty; this event will  help raise dollars to provide our programs such as the Fishing Derby ,Santa  and his elves, visits to our local schools, our Run , Hit, Pitch contest, and Youth Democracy Day. We enjoyed the entertainment of Joe Vega and dinner at Sacrementi’s Banquets where everything was made to perfection.

 

The Volunteer Awardees included Yvette Betancourt (La Loma), Dawn Moreno, Mary Garcia, Carl Baur, Brian Moreno, Magdalena Flores, Delores Baur (Euclid Ave. Committee) and Kevin Fus (Open Arms).  Good job everyone.

 

Kurt Fus and Kenny Fus were given youth awards.

 

South Suburban also honored individuals for their diligent community service, these awardees included Reverend Walter Mosby, Rose Brindisi, and Denis Monroe.

 

Also, South Suburban Area Project took this time to  honor Representative Al Riley 38th District by recognizing him as the Legislator of the Year thanking him for his great contributions to the community.

 

The Educator of the Year award was given to Mr. Caleb Valentin of Garfield School in Chicago Heights.

 

The Volunteer of the Year award went to Mary Garcia

 

 

 

 

 

NITE at the RACES: On Saturday October 14^th, 2009 SSAP held its third night at the races at beautiful  BALMORAL PARK in Crete, Il. Where 90 attendees had a fun filled night of camaraderie ,great racing, a chance to win a starter ride, as well as other raffle prizes, cigars for the men / candy for the ladies, not to mention the fabulous buffet dinner to be complimented with the beverage of your choice;  Also a visit from several Balmoral mascot cartoon characters, creating friendly havoc amidst the crowd.
